84 Days

I just shared this on Facebook, and thought ya'll might like it too:

84 days after my husband was blown up, 60 days of inpatient stays in 3 different Army hospitals, 20 units of blood transfused, 19 pins/screws in his leg, at least 15 surgeries..... here he is, standing (balancing, even) on 2 legs. Take that, Taliban.

He's a fucking badass and I am so incredibly proud of him. That cage on his right foot? HURTS. He could have chosen to lay in bed longer. No one would have blamed him. But he didn't--he got up and walked on the damn thing.

Badass for sure! And bionic! It takes a lot of courage to push yourself and not let the pain hold you back -- I don't think I would know how to be that strong in that situation. You have an amazing husband. Sending you all lots of positive thoughts all the time. *hugs*

I had no doubt SB would be up and about in record time. You guys are both strong and courageous.

Me, I'd still be in bed eating bonbons. A year later.

I'm in tears. Again. This is so awesome. I'm so proud of all of you. Thank you for the sacrifice you all have made - every single day.

Mad hugs from CA.

The fact that he can balance well enough to take the picture with both hands impresses even me. And we know I've been at this game long enough to not impress easily. At all. He is one bad motherf*cker... and I am sooooooo impressed and proud of his work! SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!

I am so glad that he is able to stand. You have shown amazing strength through all of this (and crying is totally healthy!) I am sure that your strength helped give your husband the strength to fight so hard. You, him, and the kids are in my thoughts. It's not going to be an easy road but I know you will make it through.
